Frequently Asked Questions
REI Today supports three roles: Landlord (manage properties, collect rent, post jobs), Tenant/Renter (pay rent, submit maintenance requests, message your landlord), and Contractor/Handyman (find jobs, get paid via Stripe). You can switch between roles anytime from your dashboard sidebar.
Two ways: (1) Enter the tenant's email when creating a lease — they'll be auto-linked even if they don't have an account yet. (2) Generate an invite link from the lease detail page and share it — the tenant clicks it, signs up or logs in, and is instantly connected to the lease.
Landlords can generate invite links for tenants (from lease pages) or contractors (from job pages). The link is valid for 7 days. When someone clicks it, they sign up or log in, and are automatically linked to the correct lease or job with the right role.
Yes! Use the role switcher in your dashboard sidebar to switch between Landlord, Renter, and Contractor at any time. Your dashboard will update to show the relevant features for your selected role.
Sign in as a landlord, go to Properties in the sidebar, and click "Add Property." Fill in the address, units, and details.
Sign in as a tenant, go to Payments, and click "Pay Now" next to your pending rent. You'll be redirected to a secure Stripe checkout.
Contractors set up Stripe Connect through their onboarding page. Once a job is completed and approved by the landlord, payment is transferred automatically (minus 10% platform fee).
Post a job in the Marketplace, then on the job detail page click "Generate Invite Link for Contractor." Share that link with any contractor — they'll be taken directly to the job when they sign up.
The AI chatbot can look up lease details, check payment status, review maintenance requests, create new maintenance tickets, and escalate issues to your landlord. It knows your role and tailors responses accordingly.
